January Birthdays
My eldest son has a January birthday. The second worst month to have a birthday after December (in my opinion anyway). What do you buy someone who has just been showered with gifts 3 weeks earlier? Your house may already be bursting at the seams with toys from Christmas. You don’t want to waste money on further gifts that aren’t really wanted or needed so what do you do? Here’s a few ideas on how you can celebrate a January birthday...
- Give the gift of time. We have never been more time poor. We’re always busy with work, homework, studies, school or sporting events. When was the last time you actually had a break and spent quality time together? Instead of buying material gifts book a day trip to your favourite place or a weekend away or even just a family meal where you spend a good few hours just being with each other and celebrating.
- Money. So depending on the age of your little/big one this can work a few different ways. If they are too little to understand the concept of Money simply put it in their bank account and start them off with a little nest egg for their future. One day they will thank you. If they are older, gift them the money and let them decide how they wish to spend or save it.
- Ok so you knew I would throw this one in but give them the gift of a photo shoot. You would be surprised how many children and teenagers we get in the studio that thoroughly enjoy their photo shoot and love to help choose their final photos to put up in their rooms. Plus you have amazing memories to keep forever. We can be as elaborate or simple as you like and plan a shoot that your kids will love, it could be all about them or make it a family thing, they could even bring some friends. - Throw a party. Party planners and room decorations are a whole new ball game from when mine were younger. Throw your little one a celebrity inspired amazing party as their gift. - Make- up parties. These are becoming really popular, children love to wear make up and if your'e cool with that why not let them do it properly and have the experts show them the how it's done, I know I would have loved this! Elegant Touch of Maryport offers make up training, details below.
- Soft play etc. Kids love being active. There are so many options on how to entertain them like soft play, trampolining, rock climbing or tree trekking. Treat them to something exhilarating they will never forget.
- Charity. So this does not float everyone’s boat and people give charitably in their own ways but consider the possibility and discuss with your child, if they are feeling very grateful and don’t need anything perhaps they would like to give to a worthwhile cause.
- First birthdays are easy!!!! Book one of our amazing cake smash photoshoots! Sorted! We see lots of parents who are stumped as to what to give their one year old. We have it covered. A fun-filled session with beautiful photos along the way. Fetch along grandma too to enjoy the fun. Once the have had lots of squishy fun and are full of cake they can go for a splash in one of our tin baths, lots of bubbles and fun, some babies like this part the most and its usually where we get the best smiles. - Redecorate their bedrooms. We have done this a few times with ours when we have struggled for gift ideas. From dinosaurs and avengers to teenage grunge and a princess palace. As they get older and they want a more grown up room, get on Pinterest, plan your room and have a big reveal on their birthday. Ours has always gone down well.
- Getting Fit. Is your little one a sport billy? Do they want to get fit? Perhaps they would like to join the gym. Xtreme Fitness at Workington is more than just a gym, its a community. I would never of thought I would be able to walk into a gym, grab some gear and workout without worrying what everyone thought of me but everyone is so friendly.
